In a heartbreaking turn of events, the mother of a toddler, whose dramatic rescue from a Chennai apartment rooftop garnered widespread attention weeks ago, was discovered dead at her parents’ home in Coimbatore on Sunday.

On April 28, a harrowing video circulated online, capturing the moment an eight-month-old baby dangled from the plastic sheet covering the roof of an Avadi apartment in Chennai. Neighbours rallied together, using bedsheets to create a makeshift safety net as they rescued the child.

While the rescuers were hailed as heroes, the child’s mother, Ramya, faced online criticism for alleged negligence. However, neighbours refuted these claims, affirming Ramya’s attentive care and labeling the incident a tragic accident.

In the aftermath, Ramya sought solace at her parents’ residence in Karamadai. Shockingly, on Sunday, she was discovered unconscious and subsequently pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The tragedy sparked further controversy when singer Chinmayi Sripaada condemned actor Prashanth Rangaswamy, implicating him in the mother’s death. Sripaada alleged that Ramya took her own life following public shaming over the incident.

In a poignant tweet, Sripaada lamented, “People like @itisprashanth and those who have shamed the parent/s under this Tweet, all these human creations can perhaps celebrate now since the mother of this child has now killed herself.”

This heartbreaking saga serves as a stark reminder of the repercussions of online scrutiny and the importance of compassion in the face of adversity.
