In a tragic incident reminiscent of recent high-profile accidents, Madhuri, daughter of YSR Congress Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, allegedly drove her BMW over a man sleeping on a pavement in Chennai. The victim, identified as Surya, a 24-year-old painter, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital.
The incident occurred on Monday night in Besant Nagar, Chennai, where Surya was reportedly in an inebriated state when the accident happened. According to officials, Madhuri fled the scene immediately after the incident, leaving behind her friend who engaged in an argument with onlookers before departing herself.
Upon reviewing CCTV footage, the police identified the vehicle as belonging to the BMR Group and registered in Puducherry. Madhuri was subsequently arrested but was granted bail at the J-5 Shastri Nagar Police Station amidst mounting public outcry and demands for justice from Surya’s relatives and local residents.
