Apple is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 16 series during the “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9. Alongside the new iPhones, the company is also expected to introduce the Watch Series 10 and several accessories. However, the spotlight will be on the iPhone 16 lineup, which includes four models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 series will feature a variety of screen sizes to suit different user preferences. The iPhone 16 will have a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro introduces a new 6.3-inch size. The iPhone 16 Plus will offer a 6.7-inch display, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the largest yet with a 6.9-inch screen. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will retain a 60Hz refresh rate OLED panel, whereas the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will boast a 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother experience.
Design-wise, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be available in several colors including Black, White, Green, Yellow, Pink, Blue, and Purple, featuring a glass back and aluminum frame. The Pro models will have more sophisticated finishes, such as Black Titanium, White Titanium, Gray Titanium, and Gold Titanium, with a glass back and titanium frame similar to the iPhone 14 Pro.
At the heart of the iPhone 16 series is Apple’s new A18 chip, which will be present across all models. The Pro and Pro Max versions will include the enhanced A18 Pro chip, offering faster performance with higher CPU clock speeds and more GPU cores. Both chips are manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. All models will come with at least 8 GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128 GB to 2 TB.
Camera upgrades are also significant for the iPhone 16 series. While the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to keep their existing camera setups, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will receive notable improvements. These models will feature a new 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. They will also support spatial video recording with 3D playback on Apple Vision, although video resolution will remain at 4K.
The iPhone 16 series will introduce new buttons, including an enlarged action button on the Pro models and a new capture button designed for a seamless photography experience, akin to traditional digital cameras.
The A18 chip will enable advanced Apple Intelligence features across all models, which will likely be introduced with an iOS 18.1 update after the launch. These features are expected to enhance the AI capabilities of the entire lineup.
Battery life improvements are another highlight. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature the largest battery ever in an iPhone at 4,676 mAh. The iPhone 16 Plus will have a 4,006 mAh battery, the iPhone 16 will offer 3,561 mAh, and the iPhone 16 Pro will include a 3,355 mAh battery, ensuring longer usage times for all models.
