Jayakumar slams Vijay’s comments
Days after actor Vijay made a veiled attack on the ruling AIADMK government, senior party leader and Minister for Fisheries D. Jayakumar said actors were welcome to start their own political parties but it was unnecessary for them to attack the government. The Minister alleged that they made such attacks only to get publicity for their films.
Mr. Jayakumar said his prediction about (the limited success of) actor-turned politician Kamal Haasan and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran in politics turned out to be true.
“Let any actor start a party. Let [actor] Vijay start a party. Let [actors] Goundamani or Senthil or Vivek start a party. But soon after, they will attack the government. They attack us because they have invested big in their films and they want the movies to run well,” he said.
Mr. Vijay made “unnecessary” comments against the government, he added.
