While two students have secured 499 marks, three students have secured 498 marks and 18 students have scored 497 marks.

G. Karthik Balaji and Shreyansh Amit Shah, class 12 students from Chennai found a place among the toppers in the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) class 12 examination results which were released on Thursday.

A student of PSBB Senior Secondary School K.K. Nagar, Karthik Balaji scored 497 marks with centums in Mathematics and Chemistry.

“During the run up to the exams, I was preparing for a few entrance examinations as well and this helped me keep in touch with all the subjects thoroughly. Before tackling any lesson, I made sure I was strong in the basic concepts required,” said Karthik, who has also captained the cricket team of his school.

While two students have secured 499 marks, three students have secured 498 marks and 18 students have scored 497 marks.

Shreyansh Amit Shah, a student of Kola Saraswathi Vaishnav Senior Secondary School found a place in the list of toppers under the CWSN(Children with special needs) category. He scored a total of 485 marks with 99 marks in mathematics.

“Accounts and mathematics are my favourite subjects and I’ve already joined a foundation course to pursue chartered accountancy,” said the student.

The announcement of the results took students and teachers across the country by surprise as they were expected only later this month.
