Sabalenka Battles Back to Defeat Pegula at U.S. Open 2025

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka is through to the U.S. Open 2025 final after a hard-fought win over American Jessica Pegula on Thursday.

Sabalenka lost the first set 4-6 as Pegula started strong with big support from the home crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium. But the defending champion stayed calm, raised her game, and came back to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-4.

The Belarusian hit 43 winners and eight aces, using her powerful groundstrokes to control the match. Despite Pegula’s fight, Sabalenka proved too strong in the deciding set.

The victory puts Sabalenka just one win away from defending her U.S. Open title, confirming her place as the top player in women’s tennis right now.
