Indian American Amit Kshatriya Appointed NASA Associate Administrator
NASA has appointed Amit Kshatriya, an Indian American and 20-year veteran of the space agency, as its new associate administrator, the top civil service position at NASA. The announcement was made by Acting Administrator Sean P. Duffy on Wednesday.
Before this role, Kshatriya was the deputy head of NASA’s Moon to Mars Program in the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate. He played a key part in planning the Artemis missions, which aim to send astronauts back to the Moon before preparing for the first human mission to Mars.
As associate administrator, Kshatriya will guide NASA’s future space exploration strategy, focusing on both the Artemis Moon program and upcoming Mars exploration goals.
His appointment strengthens NASA’s leadership team as the agency enters one of its most ambitious periods of human spaceflight and planetary exploration.
