Coolie Box Office Day 12: Rajinikanth Film Nears ₹500 Cr Mark
Coolie Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 12
Rajinikanth’s latest action entertainer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, continues its march towards the coveted ₹500 crore global milestone. However, despite its star power and strong opening, the film has witnessed a steep slowdown in its second week, raising doubts about its long-term box office momentum.
On day 12 (second Monday), Coolie earned just ₹2.52 crore nett in India, as per early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s total domestic earnings to ₹259.87 crore. The dip in numbers places it only marginally ahead of its competitor War 2, which managed ₹2.15 crore on the same day despite receiving poor reviews.
Globally, Coolie has collected an impressive ₹479 crore so far, making it the fourth Tamil film to near the ₹500 crore milestone, after Jailer, Leo, and 2.0. However, trade analysts suggest that the Rajinikanth-starrer is unlikely to climb further up the list of all-time highest-grossing Tamil films, as its daily earnings have now dropped below ₹3 crore.
While Coolie’s box office pull highlights Rajinikanth’s unmatched stardom and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s brand appeal, the film’s mixed reviews and diminishing footfalls may prevent it from sustaining momentum in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, joining the ₹500 crore club is a rare feat in Tamil cinema, and Coolie is well on its way to achieving it.
