Rahul Gandhi Receives Warm Welcome During US Visit
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday to begin his three-day visit to the United States. His arrival marked his first trip to America since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The warm reception was organized by members of the Indian diaspora and the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC). Gandhi expressed his gratitude through social media, sharing photos from the welcome and stating, “I am truly delighted by the warm welcome I’ve received in Dallas, Texas, USA, from the Indian Diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress.”
He also mentioned his anticipation for meaningful discussions that could strengthen the bond between the US and India during his visit. Gandhi will be in Dallas on September 8 and will continue to Washington, DC, on September 9-10.
IOC chief Sam Pitroda highlighted the excitement surrounding Gandhi’s visit, noting that the Indian diaspora, including NRIs, business leaders, technocrats, and students, are eager to interact with him. Pitroda emphasized the interest in engaging with the Congress leader on topics related to the Indian tech cities and business community.
“We look forward to a very successful visit and warmly welcome Rahul Gandhi to the US,” Pitroda said. He also mentioned receiving numerous inquiries about Gandhi’s trip, indicating the high level of anticipation surrounding his visit.
Political observers are keenly watching Gandhi’s visit, expecting it to generate significant attention and potentially stir controversy back in India. Since the 2024 Lok Sabha results, Gandhi has been actively engaging with public issues, creating momentum and garnering support.
In the recent elections, Rahul Gandhi won from two constituencies—Rae Bareli and Wayanad—but decided to retain Rae Bareli, leaving Wayanad for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi. In June, he was appointed Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha by the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
