On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu honored 15 exceptional nurses with the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding contributions to healthcare and community service.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda praised the awardees, emphasizing that the accolade will motivate nurses to continue their invaluable work. He highlighted the critical role nurses play as the “backbone of the healthcare sector.”
Established in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Florence Nightingale Award acknowledges nurses’ exceptional services across various settings. The awards are given to registered auxiliary nurses, midwives, and other nursing professionals.
The awardees, selected from central, state, Union Territory, and voluntary organizations, are recognized for their dedication in hospital, community, educational, and administrative roles.
Each award includes a Certificate of Merit, a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, and a medal. This recognition underscores the significant impact of nursing professionals on public health.
