In Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, a statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was desecrated by unknown individuals on Wednesday night, according to local police. The incident, which occurred in Bahadurpur village under the jurisdiction of Fefna police station, has sparked significant unrest.
The desecration led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders and local residents to stage a vigorous protest, raising slogans and demanding action. The BSP’s response was swift, and a new statue of Dr. Ambedkar was promptly installed in place of the damaged one.
The local police have taken immediate action, filing a case against unidentified suspects based on a complaint from Akhilesh Kumar. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Fefna, Brijmohan Saroj, confirmed that the investigation is underway.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Kant also visited the site with additional police forces to manage the situation. The SHO assured that the new statue had been installed and that the situation was now under control, with increased police presence as a precautionary measure.
