Elon Musk Eager to Join Trump’s Cabinet for US Government Audit

Ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has voiced his enthusiasm for joining former President Donald Trump’s proposed commission to audit US agencies. Musk expressed his eagerness to tackle government waste and excessive regulation in a recent response on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I can’t wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go.”

Elon Musk is excited about the prospect of working with Donald Trump to audit US agencies and eliminate unnecessary government spending.

The commission, which Trump plans to establish if re-elected, aims to identify and cut unnecessary government programs and spending. The proposed commission will feature notable business leaders, including Fred Smith, former CEO of FedEx, and Robert Nardelli, former CEO of Home Depot.

Musk’s interest in government efficiency initiatives is not new. Last month, he shared an AI-generated image of himself at a hypothetical “Department of Government Efficiency” lectern, signaling his willingness to contribute to such efforts.

Trump has previously recognized Musk’s potential value as a consultant. However, some ethics experts have raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest between Musk’s business ventures and the commission’s goals.

Inspired by past initiatives under Ronald Reagan and Tom Coburn, Trump’s advisers are seeking prominent business figures to help identify federal waste. Musk’s increasing political involvement is also evident from his recent activities, including hiring a Republican strategist to guide his political efforts.

Musk’s political influence was highlighted by a recent poll on X asking voters to choose between Trump and Kamala Harris. He also conducted a live interview with Trump on his platform last month, further strengthening their public connection. Trump has praised Musk, calling him “fantastic” and “brilliant,” reflecting a positive rapport between the two figures.
