Tamil Nadu Youth Kills Father, Live-in Partner; Bodies Dumped in Lakes
A 23-year-old man was arrested in Salem for killing his father and his father’s live-in partner, dismembering the bodies, and disposing of them in two lakes following allegations of sexual harassment.

In a shocking incident in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district, a 23-year-old man was arrested for brutally murdering his father and his father’s live-in partner, dismembering their bodies, and dumping the remains in two separate lakes.

Police identified the accused as Akash, who works at a butcher shop in Magudanchavadi. He allegedly killed his father, Palanisamy (47), a daily wage labourer, and Palanisamy’s live-in partner, Jayalakshmi (38), on August 17. According to investigators, the murders were triggered after Jayalakshmi’s daughter confided in Akash that Palanisamy had been sexually harassing her for the past four years, with her mother being aware but taking no action.

Enraged by the revelation, Akash attacked Palanisamy and Jayalakshmi inside their residence with a butcher’s knife. He then dismembered the bodies, placing the head, legs, and torso into two sacks. One sack was dumped in Thalaiyur lake, while the other was discarded in Egapuram lake.

Suspicion grew among villagers after Palanisamy and Jayalakshmi went missing. When questioned, Akash initially gave misleading answers. However, on Thursday, he confessed the crime to his uncle, who immediately informed the police.

Magudanchavadi police soon recovered the sacks containing the dismembered bodies from both lakes. The remains were sent to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital in Salem for postmortem examination.

Both Akash and Jayalakshmi’s daughter have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway to determine if additional motives were involved in the crime.
