AIADMK Minister MR Vijayabhaskar Arrested: A Land-Grabbing Scandal Unfolds

In a dramatic turn of events, former AIADMK minister MR Vijayabhaskar was arrested by the CB-CID from his alleged hideout in Thrissur, Kerala. The arrest, linked to a staggering Rs 100-crore land-grabbing case in Karur, Tamil Nadu, marks a significant development in the ongoing legal saga.

The saga began when the Karur city police, acting on a complaint by the Mela Karur sub-registrar (in-charge), initiated investigations into the fraudulent registration of 22 acres of land valued at Rs 100 crore. Allegations implicated Vijayabhaskar and others from Vangal in the dubious transfer of the land’s ownership.

Fearing imminent inclusion in the case, Vijayabhaskar sought anticipatory bail, which was denied by the district principal sessions court on June 25. Subsequently, he went underground, prompting the case to be transferred to the CB-CID on June 14. The owner of the contested land parcel also filed a complaint alleging threats and fraudulent land transfer against Vijayabhaskar and his associates.

On Tuesday, a special police team apprehended Vijayabhaskar and another accused, Praveen, in Thrissur and promptly transported them to Karur for interrogation at the local CB-CID office. The investigation continues to unravel the complexities of the alleged land-grabbing scheme involving Vijayabhaskar and several others, including his brother Sekar.

The arrest underscores the gravity of white-collar crimes and the pursuit of justice in such high-profile cases. As details emerge, the case serves as a stark reminder of the legal and ethical responsibilities that public figures must uphold.

Stay tuned as the story unfolds, revealing more about the intricate web of deceit and the pursuit of truth in the corridors of power.
