Amidst growing concerns over the recent hike in power tariffs and escalating law and order issues, former minister Sellur K Raju announced on Wednesday that the AIADMK would stage a state-wide protest on July 23rd.

Expressing deep concern, Raju highlighted a series of challenges facing Tamil Nadu, including a surge in political violence and rising drug use among youth. “In the last few weeks, we have witnessed disturbing incidents of political leaders being murdered, reflecting a worrying increase in rowdyism,” he stated.

Moreover, the recent announcement of a hike in power tariffs by the state government has sparked widespread criticism. AIADMK Chief Edappadi K Palaniswami has strongly condemned these developments, prompting the party to mobilize for a state-wide agitation to address these issues.

Raju also pointed out the delayed implementation of crucial water supply projects, citing the example of Madurai’s water scheme from the Mullaperiyar Dam. “Despite a significant investment of Rs 1,296 crore to secure water supply for Madurai city for the next 50 years, delays have plagued its execution,” he remarked. He assured that efforts were underway to engage with the municipal administration to expedite the completion and ensure equitable water distribution across all city wards.

The upcoming protest on July 23rd aims to draw attention to these pressing issues affecting the welfare of Tamil Nadu residents. AIADMK leaders and supporters are gearing up to voice their concerns and demand swift action from the state government to address these critical challenges.

Stay tuned for further updates as the AIADMK prepares to mobilize for this significant protest.
