OnePlus launches Assured Upgrade program, offers fresh discounts on OnePlus 6T to make it more affordable

This was expected. Now, OnePlus is meeting the expectations. The company has launched OnePlus Assured Upgrade program that will let OnePlus phone users trade-in their old phone and get big discounts while upgrading to a new OnePlus phone. OnePlus has said that when the trade-in is made within 3 to 12 months of the phone’s purchase, the company will give the OnePlus phone user at least 40 per cent buyback value for the old phone. This is minimum a user will get, with the maximum buyback value capped at 70 per cent.

In addition, OnePlus and its online retail partner Amazon India have also revealed a few offers that will be available on the OnePlus 6T during the Amazon Great India Sale that kicks off from today that is January 19th. Here are the offers that the OnePlus 6T has come up with:

— If you purchase the OnePlus 6T on the Amazon India website during this sale, you will get an instant discount of Rs.1500 if the purchase made using an HDFC Bank credit or debit card.

— If you purchase the OnePlus 6T from Croma or Reliance Digital shops, you will get Rs. 1500 cashback on all EMI transactions, if the purchase is made using SBI credit cards.

— People who get the OnePlus 6T on Amazon.in, oneplus.in, Croma outlets, Reliance Digital outlets and OnePlus exclusive offline stores will have the option to avail up to 6 months of No-cost EMI.

— And finally, those who are exchanging their old OnePlus phones for the OnePlus 6T will get additional Rs 2,000 off on Amazon.in, oneplus.in and at exclusive OnePlus offline stores.

But of course, the big deal is the launch of the OnePlus Assured Upgrade program. To enrol into the program, consumers will have to pay Rs. 199, and the enrolling process will be through the OnePlus app. But people who purchase the OnePlus 6T between January 19 and January 27 will have the option to enrol into Assured Upgrade program for free.

Effectively, what the OnePlus Assured Upgrade means is this: If you buy the OnePlus 6T for Rs. 37,999 right now, when the OnePlus 7 comes in another 4 to 5 months from now, or when the OnePlus 7T comes around the end of the year, you will be able to upgrade to that phone in a more affordable way. When you trade-in your OnePlus 6T for the OnePlus 7, you will get — in the worst possible scenario — a discount of Rs. 15,200 (around 40 per cent of OnePlus 6T price) on OnePlus 7. In the best possible scenario, the discount on the OnePlus 7 will be Rs. 26,599 (70 per cent of OnePlus 6T price). So for example, if OnePlus 7 costs Rs. 40,000 in the best possible scenario, you will be able to give back your OnePlus 6T and get the OnePlus 7 for around Rs. 13,500.

In December, when India Today Tech met OnePlus CEO Pete Lau and Amazon India country manager Amit Agarwal, and asked them if OnePlus will have a trade-in program for loyal OnePlus users, Amit had said, “While I don’t have any specifics to share on this right now, we are working on a plan that existing OnePlus users will like.”

But the now-available Assured Upgrade program was what Amazon and OnePlus were working on at that time. On Friday, while launching the program, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, said, “At OnePlus, our constant endeavour is to innovate and delight our loyal community of users. Our community has always been technologically forward and a vast majority of them also upgrade to subsequent OnePlus devices. With the ‘OnePlus Assured Upgrade’ program, we are excited to make upgrading to future OnePlus flagships even easier.”
